Karachi: PTI ends sit-in after detained leaders, workers released by police

Shahrah-e-Faisal was re-opened for all kind of traffic after PTI ended protest sit-in.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) ended protest sit-in in Karachi on late Wednesday night after successful negotiations between local administration and PTI leaders.

PTI leader Halim Adil Sheikh and other party leaders and workers who were detained at the Artillery Police Station were also released.

Earlier, PTI organized a rally in support of sugarcane growers who were protesting against the refusal of sugar mills owners to pay the officially fixed price of cane crop to growers.

The rally marched towards Sindh Chief Minister House to stage a sit-in against the sugar mill owners. Police tried to stop the participants of the rally near Metropole Hotel. Police baton-charged and fired water cannon to disperse the PTI activists, who reportedly indulged in stone pelting. Several PTI leaders and workers were detained by police after which the protesters staged sit-in and blocked Shahrah-e-Faisal.

The PTI ended protest sit-in after successful negotiations between local administration after which PTI Halim Adil Sheikh and other party workers were released from Artillery Police Station. Shahrah-e-Faisal was re-opened for all kind of traffic on late Wednesday night.
