Karachi receives first winter shower, hailstorm

Met Office says that the Siberian winds will keep blowing in Karachi today.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Karachi received its first winter rain coupled with hailstorm on Monday that turned the city’s weather pleasant.

Thunderstorm and cold winds lashed the city and decreased the temperature adding chill to the weather. Korangi, Defence and Malir areas received hailstorm after which the temperature dropped to 10 degrees.

Amused by the weather, Karachiites made their way outside their residences and fully enjoyed themselves.

However; the hailstorm badly affected the power supply system as electricity was suspended in New Karachi, North Karachi, Malir, PCHS, Baloch Colony and Korangi areas.

The power was later restored when the rainfall came to an end.

Met Office says that rain spell will remain in Karachi till tomorrow. Meanwhile, the Siberian winds will keep blowing in the city today whereas north-eastern winds will propel with a velocity of 45km/hour.

The maximum rainfall in Karachi was recorded 12.7mm in Sadar while the minimum was 4mm in Masroor base. The current minimum temperature of the city recorded today was 14.5 degrees.
