The premier hoped that the ruling PML-N will win the 2018 general elections and strengthen rule

LONDON (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Thursday that the federal government will complete its tenure and the caretaker government will take charge in June next year, assuring that ups and downs are part of the politics.

Talking to media in London after the all-important meeting with the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) head Nawaz Sharif, PM Abbasi hoped that their party will win the 2018 general elections and strengthen their rule in the country.

Responding to the question about National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s statement about government completing its tenure, PM said it is Sadiq’s own opinion and he is independent to give comments.

He maintained that there is no agenda behind the meeting. On a question whether there will be any significant decision made in the London gathering, he responded with a smile.

Parliament may not complete its tenure

It is worth mentioning that the Ayaz Sadiq had expressed the possibility that the assembly will not complete its specified term. Speaking in an interview, Ayaz Sadiq said that the country will undergo a change but it will not be in its benefit. He hoped that government will complete its term while fearing that the political situation of the country from the past three months shows the opposite.

“I can foresee a greater plan. Maybe some people prefer to resign as they do not want senate elections to be held in March. This is a depressing situation. I was not this much upset in 2002 during Musharraf’s tenure as I am now,” he stated.

London meeting

According to details, the meeting was attended by Maryam Nawaz, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Important decisions regarding political issues in the country were discussed in the meeting. The PML-N leaders also informed Sharif regarding major developments in the countrys politics.

PM Abbasi, Khawaja Asif and Shahbaz Sharif had reached London on late Wednesday to meet former prime minister and president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif after attending OIC Summit in Istanbul.

Meanwhile, sources say that the former premier, who was scheduled to return to Islamabad today, has delayed his return. The holding of the forthcoming general elections will top the agenda of today’s meeting. It was added that the PML-N top leaders have devised a strategy on the expected prospects for delay in the next general elections.
