(Dunya News) – As many as 100 cases against the selling of illegal drugs have been registered at the City Court police station in the ongoing year. The police have so far arrested 93 accused drug dealers in 101 registered cases in Karachi.

Six kilograms of hashish and a kilogram of heroin were also recovered.

Supplying narcotics across Karachi, drug dealers haven’t even spared courts. And it’s not just deponents visiting the court, but policemen as well as legal staff have been reported of allegedly being involved in the illegal practice.

According to inmates, drugs are easily available everywhere and they have access to them even in prison. But the police claims that the number of such incidents has now reduced.

“Narcotics are brought to the inmates while hidden in food items,” said Duty Officer City Court, Zulfiqar, while speaking to Dunya News.

Maashooq, City Court’s lock-up incharge said that the court is visited by 800 prisoners every day while the strength of the police personnel deployed is only 75.

Owing to the negligence of police, the City Court has become a ‘picnic point’ for prisoners and their family members. This is the reason why the number of drug selling incidents is rising in the premises of the court.
