Nawaz's lawyer Khawaja Harris argued over NAB witness Tayyab's statement in Al-Azizia Steel Mills.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court, hearing Avenfield properties, Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment references against Sharif family, has summoned ex-prime minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz on December 19.

During the proceeding headed by Justice Mohammad Bashir, Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Harris argued over National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor witness Malik Tayyab’s statement in Al-Azizia Steel Mills and asked whether he personally knows those people who brought the cheque.

Malik Tayyab said that he recorded the statement after properly going through the documents.

Later, second witness Adeel Akhtar appeared in the court and started to record his stance regarding London flat case. The court also directed to present other witnesses Shakeel Anjum, Yasir Shabbir and Affaq in next hearing i.e on December 19.

It is worth mentioning here that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Sharif got exemption from court appearance and went to London to inquire about the health of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who is suffering from lymphoma.

Previously, a 900-page transaction record of former PM’s bank accounts was submitted in the court, revealing that Sharif did four transactions on March 11, 2017 while he also deposited $1 million in Pakistan currency in his account on the same date.  Malik Tayyab further told that Nawaz’s son Hussain Nawaz sent him $30,000 on December 23, 2010.

SC disqualified Sharif from office in July over unreported sources of annual income of about $10,000, a salary the former premier denies ever receiving. The high court also ordered the NAB to investigate and conduct a trial into the Sharif family’s wider finances, including the London properties.

Sharif maintains control of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party, which elected close ally Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as prime minister after Sharif was disqualified.
