Graft reference: Dar fails to appear before court, submits medical report

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has on Monday once again failed to appear before the accountability court to face the graft reference that is filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the apex court’s directions, and submitted another medical report.

According to details, Dar’s counsel Advocate Hussain Mufti requested the court to stop the proceedings of declaring Ishaq Dar a proclaimed offender. The lawyer told the court that the medical report has just been received through WhatsApp and its copy is attached with the application.

Hussain Mufti further added that the original report will also be submitted shortly. Judge Muhammad Bashir remarked that the counsel’s arguments will be heard after the court receives the original document and adjourned the hearing for some time. 

It is worth mentioning here that the accountability court had on previous hearing directed Ishaq Dar to appear before it on December 4 (today) to face assets beyond known sources of income reference.

The court had displayed a notification, dated November 21, on notice board ordering Ishaq Dar to appear before it within ten days. The notice was also posted on Dar’s residences in Islamabad and Lahore, and it stated that he will be declared as a proclaimed offender if he fails appear before the court within ten days from its publication.
