ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations, Major Gen Asif Ghafoor has said that Afghan soil was used for terrorist attack in Peshawar.

Talking exclusively to Dunya News, he told that TTP terrorists were in contact with their leadership in Afghanistan whereas all the evidence has been forwarded to DGMO Afghanistan.

Major Gen Asif Ghafoor urged the Afghan government to preserve peace and order in their country.

He also lauded Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police for their timely response and competency. Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor maintained that the police took effective measures while initiating the operation as the loss could have been maximized if there had been any negligence.

In a joint operation, security forces killed all the terrorists, who opened firing at the Agriculture Directorate located in front of Peshawar University on early Friday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), five burqa-clad terrorists stormed the building and resorted to intermittent firing that killed nine people and severely injured 38 people including two policemen and one journalist who were then shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital.

The area where the incident occurred is a hub for educational institutions in the city including the university of Peshawar. The incident comes amid tight security across Pakistan as it celebrates the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
