Ansarul Sharia operative nabbed in Karachi

A terrorist identified by name Junaid was held in a security operation conducted in District West.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – An operative of Ansarul Sharia was nabbed by Pakistan Rangers on Wednesday in an operation that is a part of a targeted operation launched in Karachi in 2013 to rid the city of violence.

Reportedly, terrorist identified by name Junaid was held in a security operation conducted in District West and a list comprising of 14 names was seized in his possession.

According to sources privy to the paramilitary troops, all 14 names including that of a woman are operatives of the banned outfit. The list also states names of operatives who were earlier killed in security operations.



The list reads, Tabish, Fasih, Ghufan, Nauman, Zakki, Farhan, Furqan, Zaeem and Azam and other names.

Earlier this year, Sindh Assembly opposition leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan survived an attack on his life as he returned to his residence after offering Eid prayer in Karachi.

According to reports compiled at the time by security authorities, terrorists belonging to Ansarul Sharia were involved in the attack.

In an overnight raid after the attack, Pakistan Rangers killed chief of the banned outfit named Sheharyar-ud Din, also known as Abdullah Hashmi.
