SC seeks report on law & order situation in Balochistan

Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that Balochistan was a unit of federation, therefore, the federal government should take steps to maintain law and order situation in the province. The court also asked the Attorney General to submit the policy statement of the Prime minister regarding the issue.

A 3-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary remarked, during the hearing of a case pertaining to law and order situation in Balochistan, that the law and order situation in the province was getting worse. The court said that proper measures would be taken to control the situation. During the hearing, IG Balochistan and the Home Secretary presented a report, which showed their helplessness regarding the case.The court directed the authorities concerned to bring the matter in the notice of the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.The court also ordered to issue notices again to Chief Secretary, IG FC, DG Levies, DG MI on the matter.
