Reports against 61 corrupt police officers presented before SC by IG, Home Secretary

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Sindh Inspector General (IG) of police and Home Secretary on Thursday submitted their reports against 61 police officers for their criminal records, misconduct and unauthorised use of their powers, reported Dunya News.

According to details, 35 of these officers are from Grade-18 or above and 31 others are from Grade-17. The apex court expressed displeasure over the report asking why different punishments had been suggested for similar offences.

Justice Gulzar told Home Secretary to act like a public servant, not master. What you have been appointed for, asked Justice Gulzar. He said that everyone knew how the ministers worked.

Sindh IG told the media outside the court that 184 officers of ranks lower than Grade-16 had been punished but he didn’t have the authority to act against the senior officers.

Home Secretary has sent summaries for inter-departmental action against 22 officers to establishment division. Sindh IG has also sent separate summaries recommending departmental action against 35 officers.
