The ex-President suggested that all parties representing the Muhajir community should be united

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The former President Pervez Musharraf announced a new 23-member political alliance, inviting Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) as well as Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) to join.

Addressing to a session of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) on Friday, Musharraf said all political parties representing the Muhajir community should be united. “I invite MQM-P and PSP in the new political alliance that we are making,” he stated.

The APML chief opined that MQM is an infamous name now and brings bad reputation to Muhajirs. He suggested that the Muhajir community should leave everything and first be Pakistanis.

Talking further about the nature of alliance, he said that all the member parties will contest together with one name. He called the grand alliance as Pakistan Awami Itehad (PAI), announcing that its main office will be established in the F6 area of Islamabad. It is headed by Musharraf himself while Iqbal Dar is the Secretary General.

He refuted the reports saying he will replace Farooq Sattar as MQM-P chief.

Musharraf claimed that several leaders in the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are ready to part ways with the party and a new political force will emerge soon.

He also invited Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) in the alliance. “Chaudhry Pervez Elahi supported me and had performed well in Punjab,” he added.

The ex-President announced that he will soon return to Pakistan and the cases against him. “Things have changed now and ex-PM Nawaz Sharif is not behind the courts. Sharif’s political future is zero,” he claimed.
