AJK Council polls: Muslim Conference grabs 2 seats

Elections for four vacant seats of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) council were held today in which ruling party Muslim Conference grabbed 2 seats while PPP and PML-N clinched one seat each.

Overall six candidates were contesting in the council elections in AJK Assembly. Muslim Conference’s two candidates Ch. Muhammad Khan and Sagheer Chugtai took 11 and 10 votes respectively. PPP candidate Ch. Mehboob and PML-N’s Sardar Naeem took 11 votes each.While PPP’s Sardar Manzoor Ghazi grabbed 5 votes and Ali Zulqarnain, son of AJK president Raja Zulqarnain, failed to get any vote. PPP accused Muslim Conference and PML-N of large-scale horse-trading in the Kashmir Council elections.
