ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Three more petitions challenging Section-203 of the Electoral Reforms Bill, 2017 have been filed in the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Awami Raj Party MNA Jamshed Ahmed Dasti, Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party (PJDP) and a civilian Daud Gazanvi have requested the court to annul Section-203.

The total number of petitions has now become five.

Jamshed Dasti has adopted stance that the constitution was amended for a disqualified person therefore the court while exercising their authority should annul the revision.

“National Assembly is busy in saving a thief. But the whole nation stands with the judiciary to get rid of these robbers,” he said.

PJDP has argued in their petition that the amendment contrary to the constitution should be annulled as according to it a disqualified person can give directions to elected representatives while being party president.

Similar petitions have been filed earlier by Sheikh Rasheed and Advocate Zulfiqar Bhatta.
