Karachi: MQM rejects power tariff hike

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) rejected the recent hike in power tariff and declared it as unjust and a burden on the citizens of the Karachi.

According to a statement issued by MQM Coordination committee, the recent increase in power tariff, has affected the commonmen and it should be withdrawn.According to the statement, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has allowed an increase of 96 paisas per unit as citizens are already burdened with soaring prices. Power charges are being constantly increased and if this trend continues, citizens will not be able to pay their bills, they added. They demanded President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani take back the increment and provide relief to the people.
