Raymond Davis Case: Govt to follow court decision

The meeting of PPPs Core Committee headed by the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani concluded in Islamabad. President Asif Ali Zardari said that the government will follow the court decision regarding Raymonds immunity. Appointment of Qamar Zaman Kaira as PPP Information Secretary also came under discussion in the meeting, reported Dunya News.

The meeting of the core committee of PPP held at Aiwan-e-Sadr Islamabad. The meeting was headed by President Asif Ali Zardari in which current political, economic and law and order situation in the country including relation with the coalition parties came under discussion.According to sources, name of Qamar Zaman Kaira was also discussed to replace Fauzia Wahab as information secretary of PPP.According to Spokesman of Presidency, Farhatullah Babar, the Raymond Davis issue also came under discussion in the meeting.The President and the Prime Minister briefed the meeting about their meetings with US Senator John Kerry regarding Raymond issue.President Asif Ali Zardari said that he explained to Senator John Kerry that the Raymond Davis issue was complicated and it needed to be analyzed from different angles by the both sides.Briefing the meeting, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that he clarified to John Kerry that the main party in the Raymond Davis case was the family of murdered persons.The committee vowed that the Raymond Davis case would be resolved according to the principle of equality and mutual understanding.It is noteworthy that former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Fauzia Wahab were not invited in the meeting.
