MQM to protest at Mazar-e-Quaid on September 10 after Farooq Sattar rejects census results

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Mutahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Chairman Farooq Sattar has said that ‘rigged’ census results will not be accepted at any cost, reported Dunya News.

Sattar on Tuesday claimed that the census results  showed a deliberate reduction in the urban population of Sindh. "The population of rural Sindh such as Larkana and Shikarpur increased by 350%*," he said. He announced that MQM-P will stage a protest at Mazar-e-Quaid on September 10.

Sattar said that he doesn’t want to compare Sindh’s deprivations with East Pakistan. “Thousands will peacefully protest at Quaid’s tomb,” he said. He questioned that if a political party isn t allowed to peacefully protest then which door should they knock.

*According to the statistics provided by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), actual increase in population from 1998 census in Larkana and Shikarpur is 47% and 39.8% respectively.
