He also predicted that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will continue as PM till 2018 elections

(Web Desk) – Senior analyst and renowned political commentator Najam Sethi has predicted that the brother of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, will continue his role as the Chief Minister of Punjab, adding that the newly appointed PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will remain as the premier till 2018 general elections.

When Supreme Court ended Nawaz Sharif’s term in Prime Minister Office, it became pretty much clear that his brother and senior leader of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will be his successor. It was announced that he will resign from his Punjab Assembly seat and contest in NA-120 by-election to enter the lower house and consequently, be appointed the premier.

However, Sethi believes that this scenario has been reviewed in the consultation meetings of PML-N and they have now decided otherwise. His ‘chiriya’ has foreseen that Shehbaz Sharif wants to remain Punjab CM and let PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi hold the office until 2018 general elections.

“Chirya says SS prefers to remain CM Punjab and SKA will play a longer innings. Aapas Ki Baat!” he tweeted.
