Three killed, nine injured as three-storey building collapses in Karachi

More deaths are feared as several people are still trapped under the debris.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - A three-storey building in Liaquatabad No-9 area of Karachi collapsed on Monday night, killing at least three persons and injuring nine others.

Getting information about the mishap, police, Rangers and Edhi teams reached the spot and launched an operation to rescue the affectees.



Eye witnesses said that over 20 people are trapped under the rubble of the building. They said that the building was dilapidated due to which it caved in.



Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar and member of provincial assembly Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan arrived at the scene and monitored rescue activities. They also pledged support to the families of the victims.



The officers have also evacuated the adjoining two buildings to avoid any untoward situation whereas they are also facing immense difficulties due to congested streets.
