Security measures are being beefed up.

KARACHI (Dunya News)- In a startling revelation, it has been learnt that metal pieces were placed in engine of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) ATR aircraft travelling to Karachi from Bahawalpur.

Sources privy to development narrated that instead of seeking help from intelligence agencies to sort out the matter, administration of national flag carrier is trying to suppress the case.

As per details available, the pilot of PIA’s AP-BYK flight informed engineering department that engines were not functioning properly during flight. Upon thorough checking, it was revealed that metal pieces were placed in engines of the aircraft owing to which both engines of the plane became dysfunctional.

Sources further narrated that a similar case was reported during first week of Ramazan.

Despite two incessant similar horrendous incidents, PIA’s administration did not inform any intelligence agency about the possible terror attacks on ATR aircraft.

PIA spokesperson, when contacted, overtly dismissed news pertaining to aforementioned incidents and said no evidence was traced linked to possible terror attacks.

“ATR aircraft’s engine was undergoing through routine checking. To check foreign object damage is part of standard operating procedure during which faults are fixed in line with international standards. Preliminary reports suggest metal pieces found are part of engine,” asserted spokesperson.

He also narrated that final report would be crafted following comprehensive probe.

“Security measures are being beefed up and closed circuit CCTV cameras are being installed at aircraft’s hangers,” added spokesperson.

Earlier, several media reports have emerged narrating that security agencies had thwarted possible terror attack on PIA’s ATR aircraft. The aircraft had arrived from Bahawalpur and was expected to depart for Faisalabad.
