Blasphemy law: Religious parties postpone protest call after governments assurance

Religious parties on Friday took back the protest call after the assurance of the government that no change will be made in the Blasphemy Law. The religious parties had announced to protest on 20th Feb in Peshawar.

The announcement was made after the assurance of the government and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani that no amendment will be made in the Blasphemy Law.The postponement of the protest was decided in a steering committee meeting of religious parties after the written assurance of the PM. The meeting was headed by Sahibzada Abul Khair Zubair.The summary of Law Ministry had been sent to Maulana Fazal ur Rehman 2 days back in which it was said that no amendment would be made in the Blasphemy Law.
