KARACHI (Dunya News) – Paramilitary Rangers have arrested four most wanted men suspected of planning an attack on Youm-e-Ali (R.A) procession in Karachi today (Saturday).

The raid was conducted on a tipoff from intelligence agencies in Orangi Town area.

Rangers spokesperson said the suspects belong to banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi group. A suicide jacket, 15 kilograms of explosives, eighteen hand grenades and other weapons were recovered from their possession.

Security has been beefed up across the country as martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) is being observed with due solemnity. On the occasion, pillion riding will remain banned in Karachi and Hyderabad till evening today.

The ban was imposed after a letter forwarded by Sindh Police to the provincial government stated that there are credible reports of terrorist attacks in major cities on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali.

Various programmes have been chalked out in connection with the day where Ulema and scholars will shed light on the life and services of Hazrat Ali (RA) for Islam.
