Quetta: Ghanis immunity ends, Bugti murder case to resume

Owais Ghani was Governor Balochistan when Akbar Bugti was murdered; therefore no case could was registered against him regarding Bugti murder case at that time as he had gained immunity.

Former Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, Owais Ghani’s constitutional immunity has ended, after which an action against him regarding Akbar Bugti murder case can be taken now. Owais Ahmad Ghani was appointed as Governor Balochistan in 2003. During his regime, a senior politician Nawab Akbar Bugti was killed in an operation with security forces. Akbar Bugti’s son Jamil Akbar has made an appeal to the court to register a case against Former President Pervez Musharraf, Former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Owais Ahmad Ghani. Balochistan government ordered to register a case against these suspects; however it was noticed that Owais Ahmad Ghani had gained immunity till his appointment as governor. As the immunity of Owais Ghani has ended, Jamil Bugti’s prosecutor Sohail Rajput has demanded to take action against him.
