Power shortfall soars past 4200MW in country

The electricity production in the country is 14600MW whereas the demand has reached 19300MW.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Power shortfall in the country has exceeded 4200MW limit with blistering heat coupled with loadshedding vexing the nation.

Technical fault in Bin Qasim power plant could not be mended even after three days. The electricity production in the country is 16490MW whereas the demand has reached 21900MW. Meanwhile, 15890MW is being provided to the public.

2870MW electricity is being produced from government’s thermal powers and 9100MW from power houses of private sectors alongside 4520MW hydroelectricity.

Urban areas are undergoing 8-10 hours of power cut while the rural areas are experiencing 12-14 hours of loadshedding.
