Changa Manga: Corruption by officials, illegal cutting of trees.

Asias largest man made forest Changa Manga is becoming more of a plain ground rather than a forest. Corruption by the Forest department officials and the timber mafia has cost the government Millions of rupees. Thousands have trees have been cut down.

According to reports, the forest department and used to earn billions of rupees through timber. But the situation is not the same any more as the timber mafia has looted the Changa Manga forest thoroughly.Just a few years ago the Changa Manga forest was filled with trees but now by the corruption of the forest department officials and the timber mafia steals the wood with no check and balance. As of today cutting of trees and the stealing of wood has left the government with damages worth millions of rupees. Chief Minister Punjab took the matter into consideration and vowed that the culprits will be brought to justice.
