All the persons onboard are safe and being looked after by local management of PIA: Daniyal Gilani

LONDON (Web Desk) – British fighter jets escorted Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-757 carrying at least 200 passengers, bound for Heathrow Airport from Lahore, on Tuesday over bomb-scare.

Essex Police reported that the issue at hand was not a hijack or a terror attack situation but involved a  disruptive passenger .

The flight that departed from Lahore with 200 persons onboard was deviated from its route and escorted to Stansted Airport by Royal Air Force Typhoon jets.

“Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon aircraft were launched this afternoon from RAF Coningsby to intercept a civilian aircraft,” Ministry of Defence stated.

Spokesperson for the national airlines, Danial Gilani issued a statement in this regard and said that “UK authorities received some vague security threat through an anonymous phone call regarding PIA s Lahore-Heathrow flight PK-757 before its landing at Heathrow, after which, as per their standard procedures the aircraft was diverted to Stansted airport."

All the persons onboard are safe and being looked after by local management of PIA, the statement added.

PK-757 flight landed at Stansted Airport at around 03:00pm United Kingdom time.
