LAHORE: (Web Desk) – BBC Urdu has on Thursday denied the reports claiming that there is an internal investigation going on against Ather Kazmi, the reporter who had filed a story regarding the ownership of Park Lane flats earlier this week.

In a Facebook post, the organisation rejected the claims, saying that there was such investigation being undertaken at BBC Urdu regarding the story. It went on to say that it stood by the report and that it met BBC’s editorial standards including accuracy and impartiality.

It is pertinent to mention here that a report had been filed on BBC Urdu earlier this week that claimed there was no change in the ownership of the flats in Park Lane since 1990s. The report led some to believe that the ownership of the flats was with the Sharif family since 1990s. Several of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters and leaders had cited the story.

Afterwards, there were some reports circulating in the media that there was an internal investigation going on against the reporter who had filed the story. The APP report that was picked up by several news organisations today claimed that there was an investigation going on inside BBC against the reporter, who the story claimed was an ardent PTI supporter and had previously been involved in political activities that had annoyed the organistaion.

However, BBC has now denied the reports, saying that it stood by its story and it was exactly in accordance with the editorial standards of the organisation.
