Chairman of Pakistan International Airline has resigned after the crash

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pilot of the ill-fated PK-661 reported about left engine failure, PW-127 to the control tower at around 04:09pm before crashing near Havelian on December 7 claiming all 48 lives on board.

Dunya News has obtained documents relating to details of the situation in the Pakistan International Airline’s (PIA) ATR aircraft that went down in the evening that day while on way to Islamabad.

According to the details, the pilot conversed with the control tower for at least six minutes before the crash. The aircraft was at over 13,000 ft altitude before nose diving 3,000 ft and then another 5,000 ft.

As stated in the documents, the flight last conversed with the control tower at 6,950 ft and disappeared from the radar at 04:15pm.

Havelian crash on December 7 claimed lives of District Coordination Officer (DCO) of Chitral, Usama Warraich and renowned religious scholar, Junaid Jamshed among 48 persons including five of crew.

Chairman of Pakistan International Airline has resigned after the crash.

A probe is underway for identification of those responsible for the crash.
