Currently, Dr. Samarkand Mubarakmand is supervising coal mining practiced on scientific lines, for the Thar Coal Power Project. It is also known that in wake of the retirement of the physicist, the chances of the utilization of the indigenous resources are dim. After a suo moto notice by the Supreme Court of the Rekodiq scandal, the government decided to utilize the local resources instead of foreign assistance. Rekodik copper and gold reserves are said to be bigger than the Saindak project and Pakistan does have the technology to separate both the metals. We dont need any foreign company to do this, we have the technology to separate these two metals on our own, Dr Samar told Dunya News.
