14th death anniversary of Jaun Elia today
Elia moved to Pakistan after partition and settled in Karachi
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Jaun Elia, the revered poet passed away on November 8, 2002 and Tuesday marks his 14th death anniversary.
Elia was born in Uttar Pradesh in pre-partition British rule in 1931. His father was inclined towards art and literature and was a poet and astrologer.
After separation of the subcontinent in 1947, Elia moved to Pakistan and settled in Karachi.
He married a columnist, Zahida Hina but both went their separate ways later on.
The poet was fluent in English, Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Sanskrit and Urdu.
