I will leave politics if I fail to prove this in court, Imran concealing assets, says PML-N leader
RAWALPINDI: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi has on Monday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan owned an apartment in Islamabad which he didn’t declare anywhere, reported Dunya News.
Talking on Dunya News program Nuqta-e-Nazar, Hanif Abbasi said that he filed a petition before the court which mainly targeted Imran Khan’s concealed assets. “I have maintained in my petition that Imran Khan owns a flat in Grand Hayat Apartments opposite Constitutional Avenue, and he hasn’t declared it. It is at least worth Rs 60 to 70 million. He even gave cheques but he didn’t declare it in his tax returns in 2014”, said Abbasi.
He added that Imran Khan also had an offshore company – one of the oldest ones in Pakistan – but he never declared it in his tax returns. He owned it from 1983 to 2015 but never mentioned it before Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) or anywhere.
“Then he says that his Banigala residence was purchase by his wife and then gifted to him. However, his ex-wife Jemima Khan gave an affidavit that she didn’t gift it to Imran Khan, it was Imran Khan’s property and she just transferred it back to him”, he said.
Hanif Abbasi said that he maintained before Supreme Court that Imran Khan and his party leader Jahangir Tareen personally owned offshore companies while PM was not named by Panama Leaks, though his children were.
“They alleged the PM of concealing assets and we have also maintained in the petition that Imran Khan concealed his assets. They have made some points regarding PM’s children evading taxes and we have also discussed Imran Khan’s tax evasion in our plea before the court. The only difference is that I’ll prove what I have said in the court”, he said.
Abbasi added that if he failed to prove all this before the court, he’d have no right to participate in politics throughout the life.
