JHELUM (Dunya News) - At least ten people died and two are in critical condition after consuming toxic alcohol in Punjab’s Jhelum district.

Reportedly, condition of twelve wedding guests deteriorated after consuming tainted alcohol in Jhelum’s Christian Colony area. Eight of them died at the district hospital and two reportedly expired at a hospital in Rawalpindi.

Christian Colony area is notorious for production of alcohol. The liquor produced in this area is sold widely within Jhelum district.

In 2014, 23 people, mostly young Muslims, died and 22 were admitted to hospital after they consumed home-made toxic liquor in different parts of Karachi during the Eid holidays.
