No case registered against arrested policemen involved in killing of youth in Karachi

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Atleast two police officials were arrested over the killing of a youth in Karachi’s Nipa chowrangi but no case has been yet registered against them.

The deceased Syed Ateeq who was a second year student of Rangers College was killed during a controversial police shootout on Friday when he did not stop his motorcycle despite a warning from the personnel.

His friend Azizullah was injured in the incident.

Dunya News obtained the mobile footage of the episode in which Ateeq is seen laying on a stretcher and arguing with the policemen.

The police officials are seen searching both the injured youth instead of taking them to hospital.

Later Ateeq succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

Ateeq’s relatives have said that police want to register a an accidental killing case in a bid to save the involved officials but it is not acceptable to them.

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) East Faisal Abdullah has said that both the police officials are in custody in Gulshan-i-Iqbal police station.

A case will be registered after the arrival of the complainant, he added.

Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah also took notice of the incident and asked Sindh Inspector General (IG) for the report. CM also talked to the family of deceased boy and assured them that they would be given justice and strict action would be taken if boy would be proven innocent.
