Senegalese president arrives in Pakistan

Senegal's president arrived on invitation extended to him by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The President of Senegal, Mr. Macky Sall, along with a 34 member delegation has arrived in Pakistan on a day-visit.
His visit is the result of an invitation extended to him by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The last high-level bilateral visit between the two countries was that of the former President Abdoulaye Wade to Pakistan in March 2001.

During the visit, the President of Senegal will be calling on the Prime Minister of Pakistan followed by delegation level talks.
The Prime Minister will host a lunch in his honour. The Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and the Honorable Minister for Defence, Chairman TDAP and Chairman BOI will also call on the President of Senegal.
"Pakistan and Senegal enjoy close and cordial relations which are based on a common faith and identity of views on regional and global issues," the Foreign Office stated.
During the visit, both sides will be exploring the possibilities of further strengthening existing bilateral ties in various fields of mutual interest. There will be renewed focus on elevating economic and trade relations and defence cooperation between the two countries.
In a previous meeting between President Sall and Prime Minister Sharif, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Senegal had shown interest to procure defence equipment from Pakistan.
He had also sought to benefit from Pakistan‘s expertise in agriculture, scientific research and science & technology.
Both leaders had agreed to explore ways to enhance bilateral trade volume from its current level of 37 million U.S. dollars.
