Chairman Senate meets Lord Speaker at British House of Parliament

Lord Speaker assumed his office and meeting Chairman Senate was his first official engagement

LONDON (Dunya News) - Mian Raza Rabbani, chairman Senate of Pakistan met Rt Hon Lord Fowler, Lord Speaker at the British House of Parliament on Thursday, reported Dunya News.

The Lord Speaker assumed his office today and the meeting with the Chairman Senate of Pakistan was his first official engagement. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways and means to enhance mutual cooperation between the Senate of Pakistan and the British House of Lords and to exchange Parliamentary information and procedures.

The Chairman Senate emphasized the importance of Parliamentary diplomacy in building and strengthening relationship between the two countries. He also underlined the importance of exchange of Parliamentary delegations.

The Chairman extended the invitation to the Lord Speaker to visit Pakistan in near future, which was accepted by Lord Fowler. The Chairman drew attention of the Lord Speaker to the blatant violation of human rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) that led to countless deaths and injuries to the innocent civilians. He also highlighted the use of the pellet bullets by the Indian forces as a result of which hundreds of people including children have been inflicted with debilitating injuries such as loss of eyesight.

The Chairman also pointed out that the British soil should not be allowed to be used to incite violence in Pakistan.
