Deedar's appointment as chairman NAB: SC adjourns hearing
Supreme Court on Friday adjourned the hearing of two identical petitions challenging the appointment of Justice (r) Deedar Hussain Shah as Chairman NAB for two weeks. Justice Javed Iqbal expressed annoyance over Federations counsel Advocate Abdul Hafeez Pirzada who remained absent during the hearing. A three-member bench of SC, headed by Justice Javaid Iqbal, held hearing on the petition filed by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan challenging the appointment of Chairman NAB.The honorable court was told that Defense Counsel Dr. Abdhul Hafeez Pirzada was out of country.Justice Javed observed that the absent lawyer should not employ delaying tactics regarding the case. Justice Javaid Iqbal, in his remarks, asked federal government to change its defense counsel in case incumbent counsel Hafeez Pirzada fails to return home within 15 days.Justice Jawwad Khwaja, a member judges bench, remarked the defense counsel should have remained present in apex court as he was hired for advocacy of case.The SC adjourned the case for fortnight after directing Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq to submit detailed written reply in this respect.
