Safeguard of rights of Kashmiris be ensured, writes PM Nawaz to Ban-Ki Moon

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday wrote a letter to Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban-Ki Moon, demanding an end to the repeated human rights violation in occupied Kashmir, reported Dunya News.
PM Nawaz also wrote a letter to UN Commissioner for Human Rights. According to the Foreign Office, the Prime Minister demanded that implementation be made upon the resolutions of the Security Council that aim for the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
Prime Minister stated that a number of Kashmiris have been martyred whereas many have been left injured as a result of the atrocities committed by the Indian forces.
PM Nawaz stated that a number of Kashmiris have lost their sight as a result of being attacked with the pallet gun, adding that such atrocities of the Indian forces cannot be tolerated. He added that the use of force and extrajudicial killings were a violation of human rights.
PM wrote that the people of Kashmir were attacked while they attempted to head towards the hospitals to be treated, further adding that doctors and medical staff was also barred from treating the injured. He stated that the current situation of Kashmir provided an evidence of state terrorism.
PM Nawaz said that the right of self-determination of the people of Kashmir was curbed through state terrorism. He demanded an investigation against the Indian atrocities in Kashmir.
PM stated that the safeguard of the basic rights of the people of Kashmir be ensured, further stating that transparent investigation be carried out against the murder of Burhan Wani.
