Punjab govt resumes suspended weapons' licence issuance

Home Ministry had banned the issuance of licences in the wake of increased terror activities

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab government on Wednesday decided to lift ban from the issuance of licences, reported Dunya News.

Home Ministry sources revealed that issuance process will be started upon final approval by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif. More than 70pc of licenced weapons had been combined with National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) through a computerised process.

New licences will also be issued through computerised system. Earlier in 2013, Punjab Home Ministry had banned the issuance of licences in the wake of increased terror-related activities.
