Youm-e-Ali being observed today under stringent security

The security officers have taken as many as 42 suspects into custody.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Youm-e-Ali (RA), the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA), is being observed today (Monday) amid tight security across the country.

Special security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incident. The mourning processions will follow the planned routes and gather at the pre-decided venues.

In Karachi, the mourning procession has been emerged from Nishtar Park and will reach MA Jinnah Road. Police personnel have visited different localities and conducted search operation to ensure the security measurements.

The officers have also taken as many as five suspects into custody.

In Lahore, the mourning procession was shown up from Mubarak Haveli that will be culminated at Karbala Gam-e-Shah. More than 5000 police officers and 1400 traffic wardens have been deployed for security of the procession.

Policemen have also apprehended at least 37 people during raid in the metropolis.

Separately in Multan, the main procession took out from Chah Boharwala under 3,280 officers monitoring that will be concluded in Astana Lal Kurti.

The local administration has declared two routes as sensitive.

Monitoring of sensitive areas is being carried out through CCTV cameras.

On the other hand, Sindh Home Ministry issued a notification, announcing a ban on pillion riding across Karachi and Hyderabad from June 26 till June 28.

The ban will not be applicable to women, people with disabilities, elderly people, journalists and children under the age of 12.
