Murad Ali Shah presents Rs 869 billion Sindh budget

Rs 224 billion have been earmarked for annual development programme.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah has presented provincial budget for the year 2016-17 in Sindh Assembly, reported Saturday.
According to the documents acquired by Dunya News, the budget had been increased to 17.5 percent while target of Rs 422 billion had been set regarding tax recoveries.
Surprisingly, Rs 150 billion had been suggested for education sector while joint-budget worth Rs 70 billion had been suggested for home ministry and police.
Rs 55 billion had been approved for the health sector, Rs 42 billion for municipalities while a special budget package with a value of Rs 10 billion had been allocated for Karachi.
Shahra-e-Faisal’s expansion, development for Star Gate and underpass construction at Punjab Chowrangi had also been included in the very package.
Annual development budget has been increased to 38 percent. Rs 224 billion have been allocated for development projects and the amount is at least 38 percent more than the fiscal year 2015-16.
Home Department and Sindh Police have been recommended to be given Rs 70 billion.
