LAHORE (Dunya News) - The holy month of Ramazan begins in Pakistan after initial testimonies of the sighting of the moon were received from Islamabad, Lahore, Hyderabad and Karachi, reported Dunya News on Monday.

Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman made announcement regarding the sighting of the moon, marking the beginning of the holy month. First fast of Ramazan shall be observed in Pakistan on Tuesday, June 6, 2016. Mufti Muneeb said that he is thankful to the Imam of Masjid Qasim Khan in Peshawar, Mufti Popalzai, for his cooperation in regards to observing the first fast of Ramazan with rest of the country on the same day. Preparations to offer Namaz-e-Tarawee after the Isha prayer in mosques around the country have been made.

Muslims in Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, observed the first fast of the holy month of Ramazan on Monday along with those living in Southeast Asian countries of Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and other Western nations such as the United States, United Kingdom etc.
