Pakistan and Afghanistan have signed the transit trade agreement in the Afghan capital, Kabul. The trade ministers of the two countries signed the agreement whereas US Envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke was also present on the occasion. It has been made clear in the agreement that the goods from Afghanistan would be allowed to be transported to the Wahga border from where these goods would be loaded on the Indian trucks and moved to the Indian territory. Pakistan has made it a point in the agreement that the Indian goods could not be given a passage to Afghanistan due to the strategic interests of the country whereas India could transport its goods to Afghanistan by air or through Port Qasim. Only the truck drivers and other necessary staff of Afghanistan would be given visas of Pakistan and their entry into the country would be possible only after biometric checking on the Pak-Afghan border. The agreement has already been approved by the cabinet.
