NA approves salary raise for parliamentarians

A subcommittee of the Standing Committee on Rules and Procedures had finalised the recommendations.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The National Assembly today (Thursday) approved a raise in the salaries and allowances of Speaker, Chairman Senate, Deputy Speaker, Deputy Chairman Senate and members of the Parliament, Dunya News reported.
Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk, Acting Chairman Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges moved a special report of the Committee on the salary and allowances of all the members.
After the approval, salaries and allowances of the parliamentarians have been raised to Rs.220,000 from Rs.71,000 per month. NA Speaker and Chairman Senate will get Rs.400,000 while Deputy Speaker and Deputy Chairman Senate will be given Rs.350,000 every month.
Matters relating to MNAs’ salary, allowances and privileges are defined in the Salaries and Allowance Act, 1974.
