Teachers were protesting upon irregularities, corruption in Education Department
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Teachers belonging to the government sector on Wednesday protested against the irregularities and corruption in the Education Department, reported Dunya News.
The teachers arranged a rally from DJ Science College and tried to enter Chief Minister (CM) House. The police halted the progressing teachers by using water-cannon against them whereas three teachers got injured as a result of being hit by sticks by the policemen. Eight teachers were arrested in the process.
The teachers were of the view that merit is disregarded in the Education Department and that individuals having links with the authorities are given priority over others.
At the other end, Sindh Secretary Education Fazalullah Pechuho declared the protesting teachers as “thieves”, adding that after the introduction of the biometric system the attitude of the teachers towards their attendance has become evident.
Pechuho added that the teachers want to blackmail the department by protesting but the authorities are not under any pressure.
