Court terms Altaf Hussain proclaimed offender among five in provocative speech case
Waseem Akhtar is facing cases in Sohrab Goth and Super Highway police stations
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Anti-terrorism court (ATC) has declared Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain and Dr Farooq Sattar proclaimed offenders among five in provocative speech case, Dunya News reported Saturday.
On the other hand, court has extended interim bail of MQM s Waseem Akhtar, Rauf Siddique and Qamar Mansoor until April 16 in the same case.
The court extended the bails in 23 cases against Siddique, Mansoor and Akhtar.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain had delivered a speech last year in which he criticised government institutions, Pakistan Rangers and military.
Qamar Mansoor, Rauf Siddique and Waseem Akhtar had made arrangements for the speech that was delivered via video link from London.
Waseem Akhtar is facing cases in Sohrab Goth and Super Highway police stations.
Earlier on January 26, anti-terrorism court (ATC) had reissued arrest warrants of Altaf Hussain among 23 in provocative speech case.
The MQM leader had later apologized for his speech delivered in 2015.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had said that an official complaint would be launched with the United Kingdom (UK) government while Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that all options could be used. “Our hands can reach UK as well”, he said.
Terming Altaf’s speeches intolerable, Nisar had said that no country could allow a person, sitting in another part of the world, to criticize its institutions. He said that Altaf’s speeches were tolerated as much as they could have been but now government of the United Kingdom is needed to be written about it.
