NASIRABAD (Dunya News) – At least thirteen suspects were taken into custody while three hideouts of extremists were also destroyed in Frontier Corps (FC) and intelligence agencies’ joint operation in Balochistan’s Nasirabad today (Saturday).

FC spokesman told the media that the operation was held on a tip off received about the presence of criminal elements in Nasirabad and its adjoining areas.

The spokesman revealed the detainees were involved in heinous crimes while forces also claimed to have confiscated huge cache of weapons from their possession.

The interrogation from the arrested men is underway.

Officials say more than 3,000 militants have been killed since the launch of the latest offensive in tribal areas of Pakistan.

The Pakistani military has vowed to crush the insurgency and other criminal elements from the region by battling them with valor.

Insurgency in Pakistan began after the US-led invasion of neighbouring Afghanistan in 2001, which led to a spillover of militants across the border and a surge in recruitment for Pakistani militant groups.

Earlier, FC and police had detained as many as 14 suspects in a joint search operation in Kuchlak.

Weapons including two submachine guns (SMG) and three pistols.were seized from them..
