The nominated mayor is facing cases registered at Sohrab Goth and Super Highway police stations

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) nominated mayor Waseem Akhtar has said that Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani are trapped just like Afaq Ahmed, leader of a break-away faction known as Muhajir Qaumi Movement, Dunya News reported Saturday.

Akhtar appeared before the court seeking extension in his bail in in case regarding assisting MQM chief Altaf Hussain in delivering provocative speech against army, Rangers and government institutions.

He said that former mayor Mustafa Kamal and Qaimkhani would soon realize that they have committed a mistake by returning to Pakistan. Had the two persons asked for advice he would have given it before but now it is too late, he added.

He lambasted the two by saying that they are neither politicians nor have any importance.

Akhtar said that the development done in Karachi was a result of team work. Anyone would have taken steps for development at that time as former president Pervez Musharraf was providing the funds needed.

Mustafa Kamal and Qaimkhani had returned to Pakistan earlier and held a press conference on Thursday in Karachi. Kamal laid foundation of his political party and alleged MQM chief of working for Indian intelligence agency.

Waseem Akhtar is facing cases in Sohrab Goth and Super Highway police stations for providing assistance in alleged provocative speech by MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

Earlier on January 26, anti-terrorism court had reissued arrest warrants of Altaf Hussain among 23 in provocative speech case.
The MQM leader later apologized for his speech delivered in 2015.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had said that an official complaint would be launched with the United Kingdom (UK) government while Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that all options could be used. “Our hands can reach UK as well”, he said.

Terming Altaf’s speeches intolerable, Nisar had said that no country could allow a person, sitting in another part of the world, to criticize its institutions. He said that Altaf’s speeches were tolerated as much as they could have been but now government of the United Kingdom is needed to be written about it.
