Sutlej swells as India spills more water

India has spilled more water into Sutlej River which results in increase in the water level. India can discharge more water from it's reservoirs after heavy monsoon rains, agricultural departments officials warned.The water level in Sutlej is rising at Ganda Singhwala point. Officials warned that the swelling river can submerge Kasur and adjoining villages. The local authorities have also been warned to take safeguards in view of the current situation.India started to discharge water into Sutlej after recent rains filled up its Bhakra and Pong dams.Heavy rains in the catchment area of Bhakra reservoir as well as in parts of Punjab may take its toll on the villages situated along the Sutlej.
