Miscreant threatens, hauls away polio workers' supplies in Quetta

The workers restarted vaccination of children despite threats
QUETTA (Dunya News) – Unidentified motorcyclist snatched polio workers’ supplies and threatened them of severe consequences if they return back to Pashtoonabad, Dunya News reported Thursday.
Anti-polio drive is underway on the fourth day in Balochistan’s capital.
As many as 6,603 mobile units have been put together to vaccinate different areas if the city. As team, appointed in Pashtoonabad went ahead with their work, unidentified motorcyclist harassed and manhandled the members.
Siddiqueullah, a team member was reportedly manhandled by the assailant. He said that the team must not return to the area to avoid tension.
After learning about the news, police approached the victimized team and launched a formal investigation.
However, the workers restarted vaccination of children despite threats.
Earlier on January 13, a blast at anti-polio centre in Satellite Town claimed as many as 15 lives including police and Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel.
The provincial government vowed to not let miscreants remain at large. Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti paid a visit to the attack site and reviewed the ongoing investigations.

On the other hand, polio teams and law enforcers have vowed to not let threats deter their resolve to work for a polio-free Pakistan. The campaign is ongoing in the capital today, a day after the attack.
