Lakki Marwat: Suicide attack on police station; 8 cops among 19 killed

As many as 19 people including 8 police personnel have been killed while over 45 others injured when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden car into a police station in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday. It was a suicide attack, the DPO confirmed. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that around 19 people have been killed while over 45 injured in the suicide attack. The bombing demolished parts of the police station building, damaged a nearby school van besides several nearby buildings and left a large crater in the ground.Law enforcement agencies threw cordon around the area while rescue teams rushed the site and shifted the wounded to Peshawar hospitals. It is mention worthy that in January 2010, around 105 people died while above 100 injured when a suicide bomber blew up his sport utility vehicle filled with explosives in the middle of a crowd that had gathered to watch a volleyball game in the village of Shah Hasan Khel, Lakki Marwat. As of 3 January 2010, it is the deadliest bombing in Pakistan since the Peshawar bombing in October 2009.
