Karachi killings deterred by half in 2015

Militants claimed 97 lives including a doctor, lawyer, police officer and eight personnel in August
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Targets killings deterred by 50 percent in 2015 as compared to the bloodshed in 2014.
In 2014, at least 1,823 persons were murdered while in the near-end year, total number of killings stands at 943. In January, militants claimed 122 lives including 19 police personnel. In the moth that followed, 78 locals were killed.
At least 14 police among 74 citizens were gunned down in March while 72 in April.
As many as 45 innocent lives were lost in Safoora Goth massacre in May. Total number of killings in May stands at 122.
Safoora Goth attack claimed lives of Superintendent of Police (SP) two DSPs and ten personnel among others. In June, as many as 81 persons became victim of terror.
In the following July, Pakistan Army soldiers and police officials among 80 persons lost their lives.
Militants claimed lives of another 97 locals including a doctor, a lawyer, police officer and eight personnel in August. At least 75 innocent people breathed their last in September including police official, four personnel and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) staffers.
In October, five Sindh Police personnel among 60 citizens fell victim to extremist attacks. Terrorists claimed lives of 56 innocent persons in November. The number includes four Pakistan Rangers personnel and two police.
In the last month of the year, attack on Military Police (MP) vehicle claimed two law enforcers’ lives among 25 total.
On the other hand, police authorities have expressed satisfaction over how the operation is has turned out to be. The law enforcement agencies have termed the progress satisfactory.
